My Top 5 Rankings: Point Guards

I'm starting my blog off with my personal top 5 list of point guards in the NBA. Each day I will reveal the next PG on my list, starting today with number 5.

* Disclaimer * This list is just my opinion, I'm not saying I'm right.

Number 5:

Ty Lawson

2013-14 stats: 17.6 PPG
                        3.5 RPG
                        8.8 APG

Talk about undervalued point guards, and you'll likely see a picture of Ty Lawson. Ty Lawson is short at 5'11", but he makes up for it with his lightning quick speed. Lawson uses that speed to drive by bigger players to the bucket for the easy finish off screens and fast breaks. Along with his speed, Lawson can shoot the three as well as most with a 35% 3 point percentage this past season. Lawson plays good perimeter defense, and has quick hands on defense with his 1.6 steals per game this past season. Though what I like most about Lawson, is his ability as a true point guard sharing the sugar. Lawson's 8.8 APG ranked him among the best in the NBA, and as I say, the best PGs are not only great, but also make their teammates great as well. However there are some shortcomings with Lawson, his 3 plus TOs per game and an ankle injury near the end of this past season keeps him from going any higher in this list.
